Individual Counseling - Lynn Carroll - Delray Beach, FL

Do you feel overwhelmed with sadness and/or worry?

  • Do you cope with your pain by isolating yourself, expressing anger, feeling depressed, lethargic or abusing substances?
  • Have stressful situations and/or traumatic events contributed to your suffering?
  • Could your negative emotions stem from a recent loss you have experienced?
  • Do you often think poorly of yourself or your appearance?
  • Are you struggling in your romantic relationship because you worry you cannot connect with your partner anymore?
  • Do you wish you could regain control of your life, feel happier and reconnect with your loved ones?

While some people can overcome their issues with the help of family members and loved ones, many of us get stuck and need professional help. When you feel disconnected from others, it’s easy to start feeling isolated and alone. You may lack motivation in many areas of your life and feel unable to complete what may seem to be basic tasks. Or, you may feel anxious, agitated and restless throughout your day. Situations may easily annoy you or make you want to run away from taking on any more responsibility. No matter where you turn, you may worry there is no relief in sight.

Feeling Stuck With Negativity Is Very Common

It’s easy to feel pressure to succeed from our friends, coworkers, significant others, kids, other family members and society. There are many reasons why people can feel agitated, anxious or depressed and weighed down by negative emotions. Individuals often compare themselves to others and feel inadequate and disconnected from their loved ones, which ultimately creates more stress, fear, tension and sadness in their lives. When people get overwhelmed, it’s also very common to feel uncomfortable asking for help. Thankfully, you don’t have to struggle alone. I can work with you during our individual counseling sessions to help you heal and grow toward living a calm, happy and resilient life.

Live A Positive And Confident Life With Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling - Lynn Carroll - Delray Beach, FL As a skilled and compassionate therapist, I can offer you a safe and comfortable environment to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences during our sessions.

When we work together, I will listen to you on many levels. Our conversations can help you understand what you’re struggling with and how we can work together to support your healing process, resolve your issues as well as find more peace and happiness in your life.

You and I will create an individualized plan to help you develop skills so you can feel more confident, calm, connected and happy. If you struggle with negative or overwhelming thoughts, you will have the chance to break down and modify your thought process so you can start to build your confidence and feel good about your life and your relationships.

During individual counseling sessions, we may work with different techniques and modalities that are appropriate for your needs and goals for your treatment such as EMDR Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Attachment Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy to support your healing process. These therapies can be integrated or utilized separately at different times during your healing process, depending on your current state.

My individual psychotherapy practice includes, but is not limited to, treatment for the following conditions or situations: grieving and healing after loss; coping with illness and caretaking; recreating yourself/career changes; self-image and self-esteem issues; stress; anxiety; depression; relationship difficulties; and recovery from recent or past trauma.

Seeking out therapy is an individual choice. People choose to attend therapy sessions for many reasons. Sometimes, they want to overcome long-standing psychological issues with anxiety or depression. Other times, individuals need therapy in response to unexpected changes in their lives such as a divorce or work transitions. Many also seek the advice of a counselor as they pursue their own personal exploration and growth.

No matter your challenges, working with a therapist can provide you with the insight, support and new strategies you need to live the life you deserve. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness and working towards change in their lives.

Perhaps you would like to try individual counseling but you still have questions and concerns…

Do I really need therapy? I can usually handle my problems.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life. While you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you’ve faced, there’s nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, therapy is a good resource for people who have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand, which is a great sign of inner strength. By choosing to attend individual counseling sessions, you are taking responsibility by accepting where you are in your life and making a commitment to improving how you feel, act and relate to others. Therapy provides long-lasting benefits and support, giving you the tools you need to avoid triggers, redirect damaging patterns and overcome whatever challenges you face.

How can therapy help me?

You can experience many benefits from the therapeutic process. Some of these benefits include gaining support, learning problem-solving skills as well as implementing coping strategies for dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues and creative blocks. This will help to enhance your personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family and marital issues and work problems.

Individual Counseling - Lynn Carroll - Delray Beach, FL You may also find that a different perspective on a difficult problem or a new direction is beneficial as it allows you to reduce your stress level and help you feel better about yourself and more connected to others.

Additional benefits from therapy include:

  • Attaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals and values
  • Developing skills for improving your relationships
  • Finding resolution to the issues or concerns that led you to seek therapy
  • Learning new ways to cope with stress and anxiety
  • Managing anger, grief, depression and other emotional pressures
  • Improving communication and listening skills
  • Changing old behavior patterns and developing new ones

  • Improving your self-esteem and boosting self-confidence

I am afraid of what others will think of me if I attend individual counseling. I don’t want anyone to find out that I’m seeking help.

Our sessions are completely confidential. You do not need to worry about anyone finding out about your individual counseling sessions unless you choose to share your experience. If you do decide to tell your family or friends about your decision to seek help, you might be surprised about their reactions. It is likely that they will be happy to learn you are taking the positive steps to improve your life. Life struggles are so common and it’s difficult to know what another person is going through. As a result, we may feel alone and isolated. It can be a huge relief to share your experiences with a loved one and in this process, you may come to realize something new about yourself.

Testimonial

“I have had the ability and opportunity to work with several counselors over the last several years, and happen to be a mental health counselor myself. I have only felt truly “at home” with a few of those counselors and Lynn Carroll is one of those few. It takes an amazing therapist to help a client feel safe enough to do such deep and significant work. I felt safe with Lynn almost immediately and was able to work though some pretty significant past trauma using the wisdom of my body, thanks to Lynn. I felt so much relief as that heavy weight lifted after years and years of being with me. I still have more work to do and I am so looking forward to working through it with Lynn’s amazing guidance and unending support and compassion.”    — Jenny
